A trained assessor will conduct a comprehensive, exterior-only review of your home and property to evaluate its alignment with local, county, and state fire hazard abatement codes. During this walk-through, they will identify critical vulnerabilities and provide actionable recommendations for creating defensible space—like clearing hazardous vegetation—and implementing home hardening techniques to resist ember ignition. This proactive, no-cost service gives you peace of mind and a clear roadmap to safeguard your property against wildfire threats.

Simply sign up today using the form below and one of our trained Defensible Space Assessor Staff will visit your home to assess and provide recommendations for your home through a personalized digital report. All report results are private, and the report is simply meant as an educational tool to help provide a starting point for residents on how to lower their risk.

If defensible space needs are identified pertaining to vegetation, MRFSC's abatement and hazardous dead tree removal program can assist by contributing 5 to 100% (up to certain maximums) to bring the property into compliance.

Structural home hardening funding is not currently available, but MRFSC will retain your assessment and at such time such funding is secured, staff will contact you to assist with those items you cannot address yourself..
